Sayonara, Kon-Sensei
Posted: August 29, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI have just read news about the death of Satoshi Kon yesterday. This really comes as quite a shock to me considering how relatively young he is. In a few of my previous posts, I have mentioned him as one of the top four anime movie director of the last decade and am really looking forward to his next feature, The Dream Machine (Yume Miru Kikai). He has by all account never made a disappointment and is one of the safest bet to rest the future of anime in. Who thought he would no longer be around. I am also very moved by the piece he wrote prior to his death, one that thankfully his family is willing to share with us (the translation of which can be read here). It must have been a heartbreak keeping such news from your loved one for that long.
My condolences have to go to his family and friends and I am saddened as a fan that I will not have the privilege to watch many more of his superlative features. I really hope now that his last feature can be finished and released for all of us to cherish.
Rest in peace. You will be missed.
